Alex Kidd

What's been your biggest achievement of the year?

I think it is a toss up between 2 of my favourite moments of my career so far. It all came together last year, starting with the Hard Dance Awards. Taking out 2 awards including being crowned with the best DJ title, alongside being a runner up in 3 categories was a huge testament to all the hard work the team at AKHQ have put in. Then following on from that was my BBC Radio 1 debut essential mix, which was always a long-term goal I had in my sights.

What moments will you never forget?

Witnessing two and a half thousand clubbers make the journey to the hilly heights of Stanhope for Kiddstock in the summer for a rave to end all raves. Also taking Kiddfectious over to Ibiza for the first time with a rocking boat party and main event at Es Paradis, special moments I’ll never forget and definitely happy times. The Q-dance tour of Australia was sensational and needs a mention too. I’ll always remember rocking up to Sydney’s Horden Pavilion’s on an open top double decker bus with the whole Q roster as ‘Nothing Else Matters’ blasted out the sound system strapped to the back seats.

Who's been your favourite newcomer of the year?

Without a doubt, 'Inspired Artists' new talent, Kidd Kaos. He has a great attitude and unbelievable talent. He’s still very young and has been producing since he was a nipper, some of the stuff he is doing in the studio is evidence that he is miles ahead of his closest rivals. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for him and don’t say I didn’t warn you – his tunes are mind blowing!

Who's been the artist of the year for you?

Luciano, not what you would expect from a hard DJ but the little chilean has been an inspiration for me all year. Also check out Evil Activities, that guy is on fire in the Dutch hardcore scene.

What's been your favourite label of the year?

I could be biased and say ‘Kiddfectious' but that would be cheating! Aside from my own label I think DMW, FE and Fusion records have been releasing some good material.

What do you think has been the best track of the year?

Alex Kidd and Kidd Kaos - Kiddstock theme 2008, BK - Revolution (Alex Kidd & Kidd Kaos remix) or La Tortuga (Michel Cleis remix) Check them all out. Also Evil Activities 'No place to hide'

What's been your favourite event of the year?

Without a doubt, Circo Loco @ DC10 in Ibiza every Monday afternoon, I spent the summer listening to Luciano and co smashing it out with some sun-drenched techno and house! There isn’t anything better in my humble opinion.

What's the funniest thing that's happened to you?

Me & Kutski ripping Barry Goodgreef on numerous excursions and gigs, check out the video diaries on kiddtube ;)

What do you have planned for the next year?

The events are where it is at for Kiddfectious right now. Since departing from PFA/Goodgreef I have been focusing on spreading the vibe all over the UK and beyond. The Kiddfectious v Advokate event at Tall Trees has the best hard line up ever witnessed in a North East venue. We are taking the Kiddfectious boat on sail for the debut Ireland event in Galway for the Christmas party. The KF 1st birthday will return back to its spiritual home in Manchester with an all-star cast to ensure we celebrate with a bang. I’m also getting moist about hosting a Kiddfectious arena at the forthcoming Fantazia Valentines Spectacular. Then looking towards the summer and the word on everyone’s lips is Kiddstock. I’ve been inundated with requests for tickets so we have released some early birds although we are keeping the line up and venue details close to our hairy chests. We haven’t even announced a date and the early birds have nearly sold out. Finally, a fresh concept to infect the minds of the Kiddfectee’s is 'The Kiddfectious Xperiment' in Ibiza. More on this soon but this is where I strip away the boundaries and approach the island with a 360 degree music policy. This really will be where anarchy and innovation collide!
